Your Safety
Fraud/Billing
Contacts
As you know, there are many “phishing” and other internet fraud schemes. Please be sure that if anyone calls or e-mails you claiming to be from The Medical-Legal News that you do not give a lot of personal information, such as your social security number. We will never ask you for this. If we contact you about renewal — usually by U.S. mail — the statement will have a Cynthiana, Ky., or Cincinnati, OH, postmark.
If we call or e-mail you, we already will have your credit card on file (if you paid by credit card) and we will give you the last four digits of the card. If you are contacted by U.S. mail the statement may or may not have your credit card digits included. If the mailing is a bulk, computerized mailing, it will not. If it is a personal letter,
phone call or e-mail, then the last four digits will be given.
If you have caller ID, note that any calls will come from (859) 234-2345, 0200 or 6543. To our knowledge no one has yet figured out how to fake a caller ID number. If you have any questions, please contact us at the numbers or e-mails listed under
contact us.
PayPal
While you may make a payment to us by PayPal, to CliffordD@aol.com, you will never receive an unsolicited PayPal invoice from us. Never! Do not reply to such a solicitation by e-mail. If you wish to receive a PayPal invoice, for your convenience, please request one beforehand. Note that such a request will be on a one-time basis, i.e. there will not be repeated invoices sent.
Electronic Security
Note that we do not archive credit card numbers electronically on a server, so there is no danger of a hacking data loss, and we do not use a third-party payment processing system. If fact, we keep your financial data on paper in a locked, heavy filing cabinet. Albeit quaint and old fashioned, we believe this to be the most secure system. In the unlikely event of a theft of such data, you will receive, immediately, an e-mail blast from us to alert you, and probably a U.S. mail mailing as well. Subscriber-related data such as e-mails and addresses are kept in non-server computers.
